Sunday School classes from preschool through high school partipated in a special project this liturgical year. Under the leadership of Wendy Ross, a textile artist and member of Holy Trinity, who offered her talents as weaver and teacher, our classes made a series of banners to decorate the area behind the altar. These beautiful banners are part of the processional at the beginning of each church season and hold a place of honor behind the altar for the entire season.

Each banner is constructed from soft, partially felted merino wool, known as prefelt. The students cut out shapes with scissors. The shapes are attached to a background using a special needle. Once the design is complete and the elements secured to the backing, the banner is soaked in hot soapy water and agitated. This action causes the various layers to felt together, creatings one solid piece of fabric.

Holy Trinity Parish
a people passionately seeking to love with the heart of Christ,
think with the mind of Christ, and
act in the world as the body of Christ.
