Epiphany is the season of the celebration of the Lord's baptism, of God's acceptance of Him, and promise to Him. The dove is descending in the river of light from Heaven down to Jesus as He stands in the waters for the River Jordan. That image is then contained within a drop of water because as each of us is baptized with water, we receive the same acceptance and promise from the Father that Jesus did. Within each drop of water in the baptismal font is the promise that God loves us just as he loves Jesus. We are acceptable in his eyes.
