Lay Ministry
We believe that
all Christians are ordained to ministry at their baptism and that
God has work for each of us. Do you know what God is calling you
to do? Knowing your spiritual gifts can help you understand your
call to ministry and can clarify why you're drawn to certain ministries
and not to others.
Worship
is at the center of the Christian community, and we encourage everyone
at Holy Trinity to take part in worship as they feel called. Listed
below are opportunities for you to enhance your worship experience
and ours with your participation.
Greeters
A program for all those who would like to welcome people
attending worship services on Sunday. Contact Bill Purkerson.
Altar Guild
Open to all parishioners of Holy Trinity. They prepare the altar and the sanctuary
for each service in the church. Contact the church office or Judy Kline
for more information.
Acolytes
Serve at Sunday morning services and at other special events (weddings, funerals).
Contact the church office or Carol Yardley for more information.
Lectors and
Chalice Ministers
Serve at Sunday morning services. Contact the church office or Pug Brown for
more information.
Ushers
As a ministry of hospitality, ushers seat worshippers, collect the offering,
and direct people to communion. Contact the church office or Will Carter
for more information.
Choir
Adult and children's choir,
and instrumentalists of all sorts are needed as well.
Other Lay Ministries
Other lay ministries include:
- Sunday School teaching;
- Saints and Sinners, small groups of adults who meet for informal
dinners;
- Families
with Young Children Sunday School class and Parents' Night Out;
- Sunday breakfast teams;
- Wednesday night seminars and suppers;
- Education for Ministry (EFM);
- Cursillo;
- Adult Inquirers' classes;
- and regular Bible study.
We also gather each
year in February or March for a weekend of fellowship and spiritual
inspiration at Kanuga, an Episcopal conference
and retreat center
in Hendersonville, N.C., which requires many hours of preparation
and organization, as well as volunteers to work with the youth,
lead hikes and organize other forms of entertainment.
