Ministry - Outreach
Holy Trinity is involved in many local and global outreach projects. Holy Trinity’s
2004 outreach budget was 6.4 percent of Holy Trinity’s total operating
budget, nearly twice the percentage of the average U.S. Episcopal church budgets
for outreach.
Every woman who
joins Holy Trinity is automatically a member of ECW. This
organization sponsors the annual Christmas Bazaar and the
United Thank Offering in-gatherings. It runs the Thrift
Shop near St. Paul’s church, providing inexpensive
good clothing and other items to the community. ECW usually
disburses about $20,000 per year in gifts from its efforts
in these and other endeavors.
Community
Outreach Ministries
Holy Trinity focuses most of its local outreach efforts on projects of Clemson
Congregations in Touch (CCIT). CCIT is an ecumenical,community-based mission
organization of Clemson-area churches.
Some of the local ministries
Holy Trinity supports are as follows:
- Clemson Child
Development Center (CCDC)—a high-quality early
childhood education facility for low-income families;
- Clemson
Community Care (CCC)—a food bank;
- Clemson Free
Clinic—medicine and medical care for people
in need; A member of Holy Trinity serves as medical director.
- Community
Blood Drives—sponsored by the member churches
of CCIT and held monthly, twice a year at Holy Trinity;
- Habitat
for Humanity;
- Safe
Harbor II—a shelter for women and children
fleeing abusive relationships;
- CROP Walk—an
annual community walk to raise money for local hunger-fighting
agencies as well as the international relief and development
efforts of Church World Service;
International
Outreach Ministries
The focus of our
international involvement is the diocesan partnership with Cange,
Haiti, and the Bois Joli Rural School project. The school
project is supported by four area churches. The mission began
as an effort to bring clean water to this mountaintop village.
It has evolved into an ongoing mission, with medical teams
sent on a quarterly basis. We have helped build a church,
several schools, a hospital, an eye clinic, a dentist’s
office, and a water system. Partnership Cange celebrated
its 25th year of ministry in Haiti in 2004.
Holy Trinity also
participates in Guidepost Magazine’s Sweater Project,
providing more than 500 handmade sweaters to this international
mission project, and Operation Christmas Child, sending Christmas
boxes to needy children around the world.
